Assurance of Safety for Tourists Visiting Uganda

The Embassy of Uganda to Brussels extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends affected by the regrettable incident on the 18th of October, 2023, in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where two British tourists and their driver lost their lives in a terrorist attack claimed by ISIS.

The Government of Uganda deeply regrets this isolated incident and condemns these acts of violence in the strongest possible terms. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims' loved ones during this difficult time.

The safety and security of tourists visiting Uganda, including those from the Benelux countries (the Kingdom of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg), continue to be of utmost importance to the Government of Uganda. We want to emphasize that this incident was an isolated event, and the relevant authorities have taken immediate measures to address the situation and strengthen security measures across the country.

We want to assure tourists and those planning a visit to Uganda that the government is providing increased security to safeguard the well-being and protection of visitors. Our dedicated security forces are working diligently to ensure the safety of all residents and tourists alike.
